Smart man. With self driving cars & trucks 5-10 years off, its will be hard to make a believable argument why railroads are different. Especially in light of the last few accidents that appear to have been driven by employee failure. The unions are beating a dead horse when they keep trying to blame it on fatigue. Remember that computers don't have that issue.
Fighting the inevitable will cost the railroad unions in the end. Better to make a deal to sees than as many current employees as possible preserve their jobs till retirement.
