Larry's Internet searches, with a remarkable collection of key words (his secret recipe), entered into GOOGLE and/or competitors, have expanded our reading to any nation with an English language newspaper and railroads / rail transit. Readership has likewise expanded, as we can observe in reader offerings and comments.
Commuter railroads / transit operations further East in North America, and Internationally may have local nicknames for us to enjoy as-is, or with further embellishment.
Offerings:
The Long Island Rail Road has two peculiarities. The obvious is their two word last name. Another doesn't show up in print. Natives say something like LongGisland.
Brits call their subway system the Tubes.
A New Jersey commuter line was the Susie Q, (from Susquehanna)
The Pennsylvania Railroad's third rail commuter operation between New York City and New Jersey was also The Tubes.
Offerings from yonder; both names and nicknames, please.
