How's the ride?

There's been this Subaru commercial in heavy rotation lately where a young woman is daydreaming about riding in a boxcar of a train they're pacing. I know it's highly illegal and frowned upon, and I have no intention of doing it, but it got me wondering. How's the ride in one of those things? Is it relatively smooth? Will it rattle your teeth loose? Anyone out there with, uh hum, experience? The boxcar, that is, not the Subaru... ;)
