At least the Resetar had bathrooms with the rooms. If you got a room away from the street. I hired out too late to see the "dorm" in Watsonville but I know some conductors had "shacks" across from the yard and stayed there.

Hotel Wineman in SLO was almost the same as the Resetar, just smaller (passenger crews out of SF stayed there). Eventually moved to the Midtown Motel; much nicer.

St. Claire in San Jose wasn't too bad, again like the Resetar. Never did crash in the "blue room" at Newhall Yard. Later moved to a Travelodge.

Didn't start working into Roseville until after the mods were there - Stalag 245. Missed the Barker but heard nothing but bad.

Only stayed in Carlin once and they (mods) didn't seem bad.

Stayed at the mods in Dunsmuir once; right next to the river.

Klamath Falls wasn't bad provided you stayed away from the mainline, preferably on the back side. The nice part those were the only mods that I know of that had pagers in the rooms so you could actually leave and still get your call.

I think Ashland had mods but I never saw them. By the time I came to Oregon the crews were only going to Medford and we stayed at a motel.

Roseburg had mods, not bad, about a block from the depot.

Eugene also had mods located near the One Spot and engine ready tracks. Also had a diner in the mods since there were no restaurants nearby.

But of all the places I stayed the Tracy Inn was by far the worst, especially with the "community bathroom" down the hall. Absolutely hated the idea of even brushing my teeth in the room (there was a sink only) knowing what somebody ahead of me probably did in the sink.
