The light at the end of the tunnel can now be seen. The Yreka Western Railroads Mikado Steam Engine 19 is safe thanks to the last minute save from a Mid West Company that is in the process of buying the outstanding notes that were due on the steam engine. The note was due last Friday at 5PM, just two hours before the deadline the notes were purchased by Iowa Pacific Holdings & Permian Basin Railways. President of the company Ed Ellis was not available for comment. Its a prety good guess that Permian Basin Railyways after buying the Sierra Railroad has their eyes on the Siskiyou line from Weed, California to Roseburg, Oregon, the Yreka Western Railroad and the Skunk Line at Ft. Bragg. That would give them a lot of control over Southern Oregon and Northern and Central California freight movements. A call to the Mt.Shasta Dinner train was not returned. Are they next?
