I can check my references to see when lines were abandoned. Although I first traveled in this area (MILW, BN mains) in 1974, I didn't really explore the spider web of lines in Eastern Washington until about 2005 when I made it a point to visit every junction or crossing that I could locate whether abandoned or not. I had ridden the former SP&S main when still active but although saddened by it's abandonment thought it would make a fantastic bike trail. I believe it's the eventual goal of the state but I doubt it will happen in my lifetime (or bike riding lifetime).
