When you retire, you want to stay that way. If you do any railroad work, you want it under the table.
Most carriers have to pay in to the RRB and so do employees. (Tier I, Tier II & Medicare) When you retire it is based on how many years and that is how its figured. To go back and work for another carrier would just be bending over and stop your retirement check.
There are too many ways to list here, disability, etc. Contact the RRB in Chicago. They can fill you in.
