As I said, I was on a work train the last 3 days. On the last day we went on duty in Santa Barb. We got a messeage with our orders that said "..work between SBA & Surf. When done, leave the train at Surf and run go cab hop to LA." We worked towards Surf. My engineer, Frasier Neal wasn't effected but he didn't want to wind up in SBA when the strike started. Between him and the Conductor, Clyde Kruger, we got "done" with enough time to go to SLO or SBA with a chance of not making it past Goleta. The dispatcher busted our work orders and ran us to SLO. We died in the yard.

The old heads knew how to play the game alright.
