Once during my brief summer job at the UP East Yard in 1967 I was sent to bleed the air off the empty hog train on one of the yard tracks. It was a hot, still day, with a string of boxcars on the adjacent track and there was no ventilation. There I was, moving from one car to the next and having to hold the valve open for each one till it bled out. Halfway down I was already breathing through a kerchief. I'm surprised I made it to the end of the cars without passing out.

But that's the only part of that summer job that I [u]don't[u] miss. Greatest job I ever had in my youth.
