I still find this all curious but since the release came from Nucor they must be up to something.
The permit process to melt was going to be a tough issue so they elected to bring ingots in by
rail and then hot (below melt) and cold form from said ingots. Problem was that the railroad was
too busy to give them a decent rate and the power company wanted 5 cents/kwh plus another 2 for the use of the substation that Nucor originally built. We provided tons of survey lists on needed
items for the existing equipment retrofit but since neither the power company or the railroad
would give it never went anywhere. Maybe the traffic levels on the BNSF are such that they might
want some new business and same with the power company. The one thing that's been really interesting is that my buddy at the Plymouth plant was saying that Nucor's business is up because
the import quality out of China right now is so bad that people are buying domestic again. What
goes around comes around.
