I do try to keep an open mind on such matters but I have to agree that most modern passenger locomotives are just U-G-L-Y. The paint schemes don't help - they emphasize the ungainly look of these things. I understand the need for engineering and safety efficiency but for what they get for these things you'd think there would be room to make them a little more attractive. Plus little or no mind seems to be paid to making the locomotives match up with the equipment they're hauling. Someone needs to decide the roof height of passenger cars and make it somewhat standard. We seem to have a rash of new equipment that costs mega $$$ that don't look like they belong together.

Oh well, I guess its symptoms of my impending curmudgeon-ness.
