There are serious proposals that will be submitted to the RTC by January 4, 2018. These operators are well financed and prepared to spend a significant amount of money on upgrading the infrastructure. All of them see the potential of the inclusion of the branch line in the State’s rail plan.

Regarding the storm damage to the rail corridor earlier this year. Federal and State emergency services agencies have already surveyed the storm damage on the branch line and funds will be made available to complete all repairs. Once complete, the new operator will be required to maintain the track. at minimum class 1 standards.

Here is the schedule for the new operator to take over operations.
