The Texas – New Mexico Railroad (TNMR) (as they call themselves) is part of the Permian Basin Railways group, which also owns and operates the San Luis & Rio Grande Railroad (SLRG), among others.

The highest point on the SLRG at La Veta Pass, is 9,242 feet above sea level, the highest rail freight line in North America.


They certainly have experience operating on grades.
