As I understand it, Box Canyon Dam on the former Milwaukee Metaline Falls branch, was the first major bridge to be built without a fatality during construction. Now would be a marvel considering the times.
I am sure there are qualifiers, perhaps someone else could fill in. But still, no fatalities in an era when bodies were cheap and employers did not care.
