Why is BART singled out? Several transportation systems (i.e. Highway 101, I-80, I-280, Route 1, Golden Gate Transit buses & ferries, ACTransit, SamTrans, CalTrain) converge on The City in addition to BART. Additionally, MUNI serves the entire City.

Um, I'm as liberal as they come. I've been to San Francisco many times and while I very much enjoyed my visits there, it never occurred to me to think of San Francisco as any kind of "Utopia." I contemplated moving there over 20 years ago, but the very high housing costs dissuaded me.

As with other cities, San Francisco has its share of challenges. Maybe San Francisco's problems are more difficult to resolve and the article posted in this thread is disgusting. That said, I am planning a return trip to The City later this year and I will just hope for the best.

With all of the different transit systems mentioned above as well as all of the different modes (ferry, diesel bus, electric trolley bus, light rail, vintage/heritage streetcar, heavy rail and commuter rail), The City is remains wonderful place for transit enthusiasts.
