Easier than what?
When was a form of transportation not subsidized directly or indirectly by policy in the US? It has been done for the entire history of the country, through franchise rights to build, or financially through publicly backed financing and/or through direct subsidies..... The Erie Canal, lighthouses, the RR's, local and national highways, fro 250 years of US history, through RR land grants, direct payments to UP and CP, grants of exclusive easements, through mail contracts, by using direct and indirect taxation, etc.? In what fantasy world did these many of these things occur without those policies and subsidies?
And, now that Christie doesn't get a "split" out of the graft anymore, like he did with the World Trades Center, or like he did on the new United Terminal, at Newark, he can't get his cut of the "action" on the tunnel anymore.......so as he was being replaced, he came out against it..... Now there's a man of integrity taking a principle stand, right?
