Older power around Seattle

I was along Puget Sound today (Edmonds) and surprised to see a train being pulled by a half dozen older locomotives (GP rebuilds). I wasn't in a position to get even phone pic. I wonder what the story is with this old power and why they all run together. Hope the local foamers are capturing this interesting action.
