Again, for many Humboldt County is a nice place to live - good climate, wonderful scenery, relatively inexpensive housing... Unfortunately it is shy on employment opportunities. That leads folks to grasp at straws, at the notion that if only there was a container port that provided good jobs it would be perfect. As outsiders we can see the unreality of this notion. It's harder when you have been raised there, you have raised your family there, and you really want the next generation to be able to stay. Their situation is much the same as that of the folks in Montana who will lose their coal power plant jobs.
