Circa 1973 when the outer Market subway was undertaken Muni took in a number of suggestions and IIRC Jack Woods proposed rebuilding the trackage on 20th Avenue between Judah and Taraval. Of course there was an uprising over it with some recollecting how their houses built on sand used to shake when the 17 line ran there.
Still it was a good idea and could prove very useful now. Instead they detoured over 17th Street from Church to Castro and bought some ex-Kansas City PCC's from Toronto. Wonder if any of them survived?
