Dorothy Newell Dean was a most interesting guest on Mel Ventor's "I Want to Know" Show on KTVU, Channel 2 in Oakland when the book first came out. Mel was good at promoting local history on TV during the 1960's and had just done the "last interview" with Lucius Beebe in the Virginia City on Jack London Square. One would hope these interviews were filmed (not video taped) and survive in some back door journalist collection. KTVU told me several years ago when FOX took them over "all that stuff was thrown out."
