Interesting, but the airlines didn't have to put up the capital to build the airports, many of which are exempt from property tax and were built using tax free bonds like the highways. The railroads have to pay property tax on their right of way as well as maintaining their own signal systems.

I'm sure all sides can cherry pick. I'm just adding a few more details.
