Hey, Bob -- where'd ya stencil "COTS" and the date on those computers??? (Grin!)

Sorry -- couldn't resist! (Grin!) Hey-- this IS a place to discuss TRAINS, isn't it? (Grin!)

(I'm pretty sure that in railroading, "COTS" means "Cleaned Oiled Tested and Stenciled". Am I right?)

To be serious for a minute -- in the IT world, "COTS" means "Commercial Off-The Shelf". And you are right on the mark about it being essential for SMART, and, for that matter, any organization, to buy off-the-shelf products, instead of one-offs.

I really appreciate your posts. You put a lot of goed info and logic and facts into them, and I always read every one of them. Thank you.
