Gridlocked Highways?

Maybe we could put more of this "gridlocked" truck traffic on trains instead of building more highways though California's little remaining scenic and wild areas?

Five of the largest ten fires in California history have happened in the last five years. I know many of you have a difficult time accepting this, but there is a connection between these fires and our dependence on autos and trucks for most transportation. These fires are hastening the adaptation of the landscape to a warmer climate. They will probably not grow back the same as they'd been before.

In case you're wondering, I got rid of my car over a decade ago and most of my long-distance trips in CA are by train (I wish they were electric).
