BNSF Tacoma Yard Question

Tues nite saw the coal train parked in Tacoma for a least an hour and blocking "A" street crossing the whole time.
Wed nite I see a container train (mostly Hyundai containers) at 6 pm stopped in same area and blocking "A" street.
When I came back westbound on freeway I see the train backing into the Tacoma yard from the south (west) and it looked like it was going over the bridge into the Tacoma Rail yards.
My questions: When BNSF brings a container train to Tacoma from Seattle, do they have to go thru the Tacoma yard towards the grain terminal, then do a reverse move into Tacoma Rail yards?
When BNSF has train coming out of the intermodal yard and it's going to go over Stevens Pass, do they have to pull it South thru the yard and then go North?
Is this why I've heard the rumor that UP/BNSF are talking about BNSF using UP trackage to Tukwila for their container trains?
