Steve,
I don't see any way it can be called "progress" -- it is all just part of the US slipping into 3rd world existance. No more lumbering, get rid of all industrial activity as it MIGHT cause some enviromental problem or make noise in my back yard. Someday in the future, IF the tracks were still there, they'd be usefull. But they're gone now. I understand the Lake Britton bridge is to be removed too, so the area can be returned to "natural" (gee, the lake ain't "natural". . .) Nope, the price of scrap metal to go to those countries becoming the new industrial giants is robbing us of a lot of history and infastructure.
Is anyone going to save the Bartle tank??
One more piece of my childhood memories dies a slow death--the McCloud gave me many memories (anyone here remember the "Old Huff & Puff")--now the folks I remember are gone, and soon, all the things I remember will be too. . . I hope the 25 finds a new home where she will be respected and cared for.
