As others posters stated and Hotwater was part of both the 4449 and UP steam team at this time, this was during the Steve Lee leadership era. The old UP steam and 4449 group were very close and Doyle and Steve are great friends and have had years of working together for the good of both of their teams.

Today if someone was to request a double header with 4449 and 844 once again, I am sure the great leader in Cheyenne would put up a huge fuss over it not wanting a professional crew like the 4449 to upstage him and his gong show.
