A vast conspiracy? Maybe, if you take the mouse bait.

The whole story (for those who bother, it's actually worth seeing, in spite of mouse posting it) is really about a "fresh start" for the CHSRA. As I've said before, in my encounters, Gavin Newsom has been the one real skeptic all along, with the current dysfunctional mess at CHSRA, at the Statewide office level. He just had no real control or input over it.

Unlike our two predictable evil "gubmint" conspiracy buffs, I take away from this "fresh start" listening session, that some folks are done with hearing the never ending CHSRA excuses and the way too many "bad" headlines, and want to know what can we "salvage" from this fiasco (and what we have to finish now that Downton Fresno is torn up???) and how do we find a way to do something more affordable to get that poor woman out of a six hour traffic jam, to make a three hour trip?

I'd say the "Plan B" for an Altamont/Dumbarton/Upper Valley Cities connection, with real service to where the demand is, for about $5-6 billion, over Pacheco for about $25 billion, is looking better and better.
