I recall a proposed rail line from Eugene,OR., Southeast over Pengra Pass and Chemult, then East across Southern Oregon to a connection with Oregon Short Line near the Idaho border. I believe the Anti - trust case killed it, though Espee would later on build the West end of the Cascade Line using the same surveys. As well, U.P. would later build their Burns Branch out of Ontario, OR., through some very desolate country to a connection with the Oregon & Northwestern for the Seneca Lumber business.
