Those locomotives are legally inoperable anyway - and were at the time the F.R.A. (at the request of the C.P.U.C.) ordered them shut down - being that ALL their brake controls were improperly maintained or completely inoperative, among a lot of other defects. That was a big part of the reason the NWP was shut down so abruptly in the first place.

Had anybody actually wanted them, or any other stranded stuff, special moves to get it out could have been arranged (according to the FRA order) - but apparently, no one wanted any of it bad enough to bother.

Those engines have got to need a LOT of work. It would probably be cheaper to lease a few used engines, or even a handful of "Genset Switchers" - at least for the first few years anyway.
