Actually, both photos were taken at the Antelope Drive grade crossing a couple of miles south (RR east) of Madeline. The trains are westbound, going to Klamath Falls. You can see the relay box for an automated dragging equipment detector in the snow shot. In the summer shot you can see part of the detector on the outside of the rail. The distant hills are identical in both shots.
