A better question is: Which River did the engine actually end up in ??? You mention both the Columbia AND the Deschutes River; the Deschutes River only runs 4 to 5 feet deep most of the year, hardly enough even for a flat - bottom former LST. I'm familiar with the Deschutes River, and don't recall any " Boxcar Rapids ".
