OK, this makes a lot of sense--especially since JIT inventory practices are quite popular these days.
But back to my UPS vs. FedEx Ground question--why would FedEx opt to go by truck--and why are their prices lower despite that?
FedEx's business practices seem perfect for rail (as UPS's use of rail shows)--lots of trailers all going between big sorting hubs.
Seems that if FedEx Ground chooses to use trucks, they should be losing money if they're charging the same or less than UPS...
