Clearly those who ridicule proposals for drastically reducing greenhouse gas emissions don't believe the predictions of climate scientists. Because if they did, they would believe we are on the verge of runaway heating due to feedback loops that will forever change life as we know it.
This seems odd, because the dramatic technological developments of the last century have been through the capabilities of scientists and engineers who brought us things like jet aircraft, communication satellites and smart phones, and have produced photographs of the surface of Mars that look like they were taken outside the back door of a house in Arizona.
The complexity of orbital theory required to accurately predict a trajectory from Earth to Mars, while both planets are racing around the Sun, is beyond comprehension for most of us, but we know the predictions were correct because the missions worked!
But for some reason climate scientists are seen by some as incompetent or dishonest (or both), despite the fact that those scientists overwhelmingly represent major universities in the US and countries all over the world.
