Old names still hanging around

I got to thinking about how the old railroad names from the 1950's and 60's were pretty much all gone. Of the big old names, only UP, CN, and CP are still around, with SOO and IC sort of surviving as brands, even if not as independent outfits. Of the smaller (but still reasonably big) names, only KCS and FEC are left. Maybe NYS&W and TP&W if you want to go that small. (There was a NS back then, but today's version is a different outfit.)

Kinda sad... feels like a bunch of old friends are gone. (Yeah, I know, people are more important than brand names, spare my grief for what really matters. All true. But still, something is gone, and the world feels poorer for it.)
