I never knew that about Ken, thought he had always been that way--and he didn't seem to be old enough to be in Vietnam--but then I just missed it by a year (that and my lottery number was 357). Sad to hear he's gone. We bought one of his paintings, and when I finish my "Train room" it will hold a place of honor there, along with my WP publicity print of the Dark Canyon concrete arch bridge.
I helped change out one of the power assemblies on the Canadian FAs (6776 ?), assisting the great guy from Ely who was their "Mr. Alco" and I'm sorry to say, I can't remember his name--but he was great to work with. I remember creating a pull fixture to lift the unit out, and it was tight quarters in there! That was one of the few "non-painting" restoration jobs I did there.
Boy, that was a LONG time ago!
