Too bad the passengers did not drive, they missed out on a 115 mile backup on I-5 which was closed for 10 hours and probably did not move very fast after opening. Apparently many were out of gas, food etc. Those that chose hwy 58 are most likely having a good time too. Drivers though are in control of their own destiny so there will be less whining.
Never would I get on camera sniveling about poor me in such a situation. Most people create enough problems in their own lives, but have such little self awareness they have no problem standing up to wag their fingers and bellyache at others. For me, would prefer not to present myself to the world in this way.

Hopefully an investigation will get to the bottom of this and bureaucrats will restore order. Yes, we need investigations as to why snow storms cause problems. Of course it has to be stated, to appease the lunatics.

Regarding any possible investigation into this incident, a spokeswoman for Oregon’s Department of Transportation ODOT says, “...ODOT has limited role in Amtrak’s Coast Starlight operation.
