Enjoy the train horns in La Grande while you can. The wonderful City Council is convinced that their number one priority is to bring about "quiet crossings" even if that means that adjacent businesses won't be able to deal with the divided roads in front of their businesses. I have lived there for many years and am probably about not more than 6 blocks from the UP and rarely hear the train noise. When I do, it just reminds me that many profitable businesses that employ millions of people are using the railroad to transact their business.
