She has a rather refreshing "adult" oriented focus, on dealing with actual observable transportation needs, and making pragmatic investments based on those needs to serve the actual needs of the real taxpayers and traveling, public who are bearing the burden of congestion and ultimately paying the costs of these projects...
What a novel concept?
Novel indeed, when compared to the now defunct "runaway money train" "visions" of folks having political "cost is no object" "build it an they will come ....." (meaning mostly the contractors...in one form or another...) fantasies about who's got the world's fastest and most expensive choo-choo...
This was the "vision" for the runaway money train that was sold to a gullible political class and an ignorant voting public, guided more by a pandering to some kind of bizarre "psycho sexual" political obsession, which had more to do with who's got the "biggest" (fastest and most expensive...) "world class" political choo-choo schlong, than any measurable public benefit it would provide.
There's plenty of filler and nonsense in this interview, as well, much so as not to offend the various Bay Area lunatics, Nimby's, various striped of political thieves, panderer's and wannabee's, from the fringes, and factions that she must "deal with".
But, all in all, reading in between line, I thought she talked more sense in one interview, than I've ever heard cumulatively, in my now 25 years of dealing with the utterly incompetent and thoroughly mismanaged CAHSRA fiasco.
