Erik Jonasson - A member on the BN IO Groups provided the answer to my question.

I'm not exactly sure. When l was working in the NOC in Ft. Worth on The Twin Cities Division they still referred to The Empire Builders as 1007 and 1008 but that may have been just out of habit. That was in 2007-2009. I think they may have officially changed just after the merger and larger rollout of the alpha numeric train symbols system wide.
