It's interesting to note that the Sulzer prime movers do not seem to have been the issue because they are still valuable for tug boats. It must have been a bunch of other issues related to the design being a prototype and being in a railroad environment that lead to the locomotives being unreliable. It's like the Fairbanks-Morse locomotives. They were designed around the excellent marine FM engines but in railroad applications there were issues. The issues could have been overcome with more engineering but the sales weren't there to make it worth investing the money.
