Track was not unused. Serviced Lewiston Grain Growers elevator at end of spur. Loaded up to
500 cars per year, but was un-noticed as it was switched at night. City wanted tracks out of the way of the riverpark next to the tracks. City purchased the tracks to expand park and parking. According to the newspaper, they will truck grain elsewhere for rail loading, but paper did not say where the loading was to be done. A couple of years ago, Watco put quite a number of ties into the spur and raised a couple of low spots, track still looked rough through the camera lens. This was part of a line started by the NP that was to follow the
Snake River canyon to somewhere in Montana. Bill Taylor did a program about the line at an
NPRHA convention several years ago.
