(With respect to dual gauge turnouts, I've seen a lot of them. My puzzlement above was based completely on my incorrect belief that BART rails were 5 feet apart. My issue was solely one of clearance, which disappeared when I learned that BART rails are 5.5 feet apart.)

When Hepkema mentioned seeing "a 4-rail dual-gauge (track) that has a 3-way turnout" my curiosity reached a new peak. Can anyone supply a photo? I'd really like to see that turnout.
