Real bummer to hear. Got to agree with the "Not Good" conclusions above.
It's been a few years since I've been out that way, but there was not a lot of on line business left back then. Only customer I saw in CA was at Miligan where they were loading salt into covered hoppers. There are definitely more customers in AZ, though I would hardly call it a customer rich line. There is a poultry farm that was starting up in AZ that was to take deliveries of feed, which is definitely good.
My understanding is that most of their business is moving traffic for BNSF. They had (have?) the 5x per week manifest (trains 708 and 807) that hand off with the BNSF locals at both ends. They also move intermodal and auto repo moves out of Phoneix to the LA Area, and an occasional BNSF manifest. I would expect that the bridge will be repaired as I dont think G&W or BNSF would want to loose this route.
