Hutch, those nicknames are spot on! As much as I have a fondness for the Bay Area, the current state of things out there (I live in Woodland, by the way) brings tears to my eyes. I've been traveling to and from the Bay Area for the nearly 30 years of my life, and I have seen a lot of changes, most of it not for the better. Sure, BART, MUNI, SMART and Amtrak and the others have steadily improved over the years, but at the same time, the quality of the cities served by the railroads and the passenger/commuter networks are being degraded by the policies and the cavalier attitude of those running those cities. It's madness to think it's perfectly acceptable to drive through parts of Oakland, Berserkley, Richmond, and the rest; seeing homeless encampments everywhere. Some of the people on this board don't see this crap up close, or are too ignorant and biased (more likely prejudiced) to care about fixing problems rather than offering snubs and insults. This asinine mentality and offended sensibilities of people who moan about a fricking nickname of a city that I used to love (my heart was taken by NYC, which is far cleaner than Frisco/SFO/San Fransicko/The City/Whatever, by the way) but as someone who drives 160 miles every day to and from work in Oakland, I can only say that the Frisco Bay Area needs a wakeup call, and a change (which I doubt will ever happen, but I have seen proof of pigs flying) to seriously address certain issues without enabling drug use and rampant crises. So, in short, FRISCO!
