Interesting that Hyundai / Kia is the only automaker going after the railroads. They import a lot of vehicles through Port of Tacoma; most are loaded on autoracks for further distribution within the U.S. market.
Fuel surcharges are quite common in the U.S. Trucking Industry, especially with the LTL carriers. The fuel surcharge is often used as a sales negotiating cookie; sometimes the carrier eats it to secure the business.
