Hi, Douglasm. I'm, of course, the friend you used to ride the Saturday Special with. Another old guy. This shot from 1960 brings back memories. Might have been taken on a day when I was trackside a few miles to the north in suburban Ferndale to watch the 6327 bring in Train 19, a commuter train as far as Pontiac, then, after dropping all but one coach and a baggage car, an inter-city train as far as Durand.
Also, in early 1960, 6319 was usually assigned to commuter Train 77 Detroit to Pontiac, operating a half hour after Train 19.
Saturdays 77 didn't run, but 19 did and the two times I saw it on Saturday there was a Mikado on the point.
Loved those old F units, too, one of which is preserved in a Canadian museum.
