Ma Nature closed the line north of Eureka in the last week of 1997/first week of 1998. The FRA closed the south end in late November 1998. The last freight operations- covering a portion of the south end- happened in late Spring 2001. Rail-Ways conducted those operations as NCRA's operating contractor, and those operations ended when NCRA fired Rail-Ways. They already had approval from the FRA to re-open the trackage they were operating and were working on extending their services northward.
