Of course, there's as yet no such reports of this vehicles location, intent, or cause that I've seen.
This grade crossing is at a notorious intersection, as a major four way, on top of the DT crossing, but it's also a sealed ROW through most of this area, and there's no indication of the RV being driven on the ROW reported.
There was a "report" on media, of folks who purportedly saw several people possibly running away from the RV, before the collision, without much information as to the credibility of that report.
We don't know a cause or any details of the positioning of the vehicle, so far.
The train didn't drop the drawbar, derail, or jackknife, because they've quietly made sure that won't happen.
So, no, not at all like Oxnard, it's more like Marquardt. Which has a long history, in spite of lots of protection. This is scheduled for grade separation beginning next year.
Of course, the absence of any facts doesn't mean that there ain't plenty of folks on the internet postulating theories.....
