FUD,
It sounds like you may have been exposed to some of the same knowledge and training as I have been, on that subject.
Since they didn't apprehend, or weren't in contact with, the driver and occupants of the RV, I thought things would be closed down quite a bit longer for the reason you mention. It was a pretty intense fire, and you can never discount that kind of possibility, these days.
I spent a lot of time with LE folks of various agencies who "red teamed" those kinds of potential acts, back when I was working on integrating all of those street and freeway traffic cameras, and all of the cameras we have on the buses and trains for LE to improve security and emergency response, after 9/11.
I remember back when we first held a meeting, on "hardening" transit, shortly after 9/11. We held it in what was then the MTA's designated emergency response "center". Which then consisted of what was basically a medium sized storage room off of a conference room, "equipped" with two old computers, two folding tables and a dozen folding chairs... These things have changed a lot since then. Which is one reason why we will likely have a lot of video evidence to help figure this incident out.
Don't need to give the crazies who troll AP any ideas, though, do we? There's no shortage of crazy out there these days, just like there is a shortage of stupid...
