Don't fret Hutch, the North Pole will still be there... But, Santa may be in trouble though...? j
Don't fret Hutch, the North Pole will still be there, as long as the earth is spinning on its current axis.
And no Hutch, I doubt that Al Gore really thinks the earth will quit spinning on it's current axis causing the North Pole to disappear by 2019.
Now, if you and Al are really talking about the Artic Ocean sea ice, that once covered much more of the North Pole, well that's different.
The amount of North Polar sea ice has shrunk dramatically over 70 years, accelerating a lot in the last 20 years, which reduces solar reflectivity, and increases the amount of sun light warming the water, accelerating melting, reflecting less sum, warming more water surface area, causing faster sea ice decline... and, on and on, in an iterative cycle, until it's an open sea, reflecting no light back into space.
And, when that sea ice melts Santa will be in trouble, no ice to build the toys on. He may have to move over to Greenland.
